For SALE!

Yes, we have decided to sell our apartment. To move where, one might ask. Good question. We're not sure yet. We've been househunting for a while now and it's a bit frustrating. The perfect home just isn't out there. At least not within our means. It's so hard to go through all the pros and cons and decide which things matter more than the others.

Yes, even moving abroad again has been discussed. Talk about pros and cons there! It's such a big decision to make. We really do miss Australia a lot and if was just us and not the kids we probably would not even think twice about moving back there. However, the kids are so settled here now. They have a good school and their friends etc and one does have to think about wheather taking them away from their friends and relatives would be fair. I wouldn't worry about Erno that much. I think he'll be fine no matter where he is. Adiel on the other hand is another story. He's quite shy and doesn't always express himself very well. He's also somewhat of a perfectionist and he would find it very difficult at first if he couldn't manage in shcool with his English as well as the other kids.

I'm sure that whatever problems there might be at first they would overcome them sooner or later. Also all the things going on in Japan, New Zealand and Australia lately kinda makes you wonder too. So far Finland is kinda safe place to live in many ways although the lack of sunshine somewhat increases the chances of mental health problems. So we're in bit of a limbo here. Whatever you decide, will you live to regret it? Or is it really not that big of a deal?

Oh well, I suppose we haven't really considered moving abroad too seriously since there hasn't really been much of job searching done in that field. Of course, I can always work where ever, but Teemu's job hunting might be more challenging. We do, however want to go back to Oz sometime and since it's so far away it couldn't be a short trip. And I would have to quit my job to get more than 4 weeks off in a row.

Thoughts/comments on this, anyone?

no-brainer.... come to Australia! We miss you!!
If not, Norway is nice....
Seriously though, it is a big decision, but I'm sure you will make the one that's best for your family :)

Alright, Sirpa...you know that you can't move until next summer, right? :D

I can give you my two cents' worth: obviously, we move often and far away. The kids have to get settled QUICKLY or not at all. From my point of view, yes, moving abroad is very VERY difficult, and I'm always wondering if I'm being fair to my children having them grow up pretty much without family (grandparents/cousins, etc.) and always being uprooted every two years or so....having to leave their friends and schools and everything they know...

HOWEVER, I feel that the pros outweigh those difficulties. My kids are good friends with each other and are close to us, because our family is the only constant. They see friends (adults and children) at church as their relatives/extended family, and so do we. Their grandparents and cousins still love them and we skype often, so we know they're still there, but they have the opportunity to grow close to SO many more people that we wouldn't have done if we still lived 5 blocks away from our parents' house. Josh and Claire have penpals all over the world from their various friends they've made on our journeys. We feel it's been very enriching to our lives to move overseas.

Of course, it's a HUGE decision, and a matter of prayer and fasting and totally a personal decision in the end, but for us, it's totally worth it.

I would rather you didn't leave until we did, though! Ha!! (That way Teemo can sit by Claire again when she goes crazy and tries to run around like a maniac during sacrament meeting...)

Good luck, and if you ever want to sit and chat, I'm here for ya! Love ya!!
